Transit Development of the Year Nominee: Wilson Rides Wheels for Well-Being

Transit Champion Nominee: Gaye Lynn Wilson

Since becoming the founding Executive Director of Wilson Rides in 2020, Gaye Lynn has poured her energy, compassion, and leadership into improving the quality of life for older adults across Wilson County.

Her vision? To ensure that every older adult can get where they need to go, whether it’s to medical appointments, pay bills, shop for groceries, or stay connected.

Under her leadership, Wilson Rides created scholarship pools to help with ride payments, offers free rides for veterans, and partners with community organizations to keep seniors connected. She has created programs that deliver Easter and Christmas care bags and hosts “StoryTime with Wilson Rides,” a podcast that preserves the legacy stories of riders and drivers.

In partnership with One Generation Away, Wilson Rides is now mobilizing volunteers to deliver thousands of food boxes to seniors throughout Wilson County — an expansion that will reach up to 240 households in 2025.

In just one year, Wilson Rides provided 1,173 round-trip rides, covering 64,407 miles for 132 active clients. That’s connecting people, fostering independence, and building trust through every ride.

For her dedication, Gaye Lynn was honored as “Wilsonian of the Year” by the Mt. Juliet Chamber of Commerce. She continues to strengthen Wilson County’s network of care, compassion, and community.

Join us in celebrating Gaye Lynn and the Wilson Rides team for showing how transit creates connection, dignity, and belonging.
