Not driving anymore? Not a problem. We will take you where you need to go!
To medical appointments, the grocery store, the bank, the pharmacy, senior center, beauty shop, barber shop or anywhere in between. We’ll connect you with one of our caring and friendly volunteer drivers to make sure you get to go where you need to go! You may even make a new friend along the way! All rides must occur within Wilson County. We do make one exception, we will take members to the TriStar Summit Medical Center and all surrounding medical offices only.
How to get started as a Rider
Step 1:
Be a Wilson County Resident and Request rides within Wilson County
There is a $25 Annual Membership fee, and rides cost $6 per roundtrip ride.
Step 2:
Be 55 years of age or older
Step 3:
Be able to transfer in and out of a car easily
If you use a walker or rollator, it must be able to fit in the trunk of a car (no wheelchairs).
Step 4:
Verify you are no longer be able to drive, drive very seldomly, or cannot drive for medical reasons
Step 5:
Complete an application
Wilson Rides will mail or email you an application to become a member
Step 6:
Complete a home visit evaluation
Wilson Rides will contact you after we receive your completed application to schedule an evaluation.
Step 7:
Become a Wilson Rides Member
There is a $25 Annual Membership fee + a $24.00 prepaid rides fee. Total fee due upon home visit is $49.00. Once accepted into the program, this fee will cover the first annual membership fee as well as (4) four prepaid, round-trip rides. After the initial payment, rides are $3.00 one way and $6.00 round trip. No tips nor payments will be accepted by volunteer drivers. All subsequent payments will be made to the Wilson rides Office. Grants are available for those applicants who are unable to pay the full fee.
