Lebanon Noon Rotary Golf Tournament Supports Wilson Rides

LEBANON, TN (June 5, 2024) Over 120 players, sponsors, volunteers, friends, and family gathered Monday, June 3rd, to honor longtime Rotarian Gwynn Lanius by participating in the 36th Annual Lebanon Noon Rotary Foundation Golf Tournament, renamed as The Gwynn Lanius Memorial Golf Tournament. The tournament was presented by Wilson Bank & Trust and was held at the beautiful Tennessee Grasslands Golf & Country Club – Foxland Course in Gallatin, TN.

Rotarian Gwynn Lanius was very active every year in coordinating the tournament since its inception. After his passing in April of 2023, the Club paid tribute to Gwynn by renaming the event The Gwynn Lanius Memorial Golf Tournament to honor a great friend with a true heart for service. His membership in the Lebanon Noon Rotary spanned 49 years, including a term as President in 1985-1986. Dr. Charles “Chili” Lowe was the original founder of the Lebanon Rotary Club Tournament which was played under a different format for many years.

Now in its 103rd year of serving Lebanon, the Lebanon Noon Rotary Club raised funds to support a variety of needs in the Wilson County community.  The annual golf tournament is one of the ways the Club’s Foundation generates funding to help local nonprofits and schools. This year’s tournament also benefits Wilson Rides Inc, a local non-profit in Wilson County that provides rides to senior citizens 55+ who no longer drive or seldom drive.

This year also marks the first year for the Rotary Cup Challenge.  Any team in the tournament with two or more active Rotarians from the same Rotary Club was eligible to compete.  Six teams qualified for the Rotary Cup Challenge, and the winning team with a score of 9 under was team 11A from the Lebanon Noon Rotary Club: Rotarians Jeff Hall and David Bean and teammates Garrett Senia and Tony Rego.  See all Cup results below.

Club President Andy White reflected on the day, “What a wonderful day where so many members of our community came out and had a great time on a great course, all the while helping our club continue to spread hope throughout our community with the money raised today that goes to support so many great nonprofits in our community. We are so grateful for all of the sponsors, players, and volunteers that came out to make the day a huge success!”

Inspired by the volunteer spirit of Lanius, Rotarians John Pope and Gaye Lynn Wilson served as tournament Co-Chairs again and were joined by volunteers from both Lebanon and Mt. Juliet Noon Rotary Clubs. After the tournament, players attended a reception held in the Foxland Harbor Clubhouse for the announcement of the tournament winners listed below:

Champions of the tournament with a winning score of 12 under was team 10A, The Barn Store sponsored team of Austin Christian, Ron Hibbard, Randy Hibbard and Logan Spurrier.  See all results below.
